About East West Initiatives

East-West Initiatives was founded in 2007 by Mr Sameer Petro, the Director of the Center for Relational Leadership in Jordan, a registered company which provides training and consultation on leadership and relationships. At East-West Initiatives we believe that we have to be more intentional about building relationships between the West and the Arab world that lead to an increase in acceptance and respect for one another. We are committed to bridging the gap between East and West in any way that we see as valuable and achievable.

Mr Sameer Petro - Director

Sameer Petro was raised in Jordan but spent many years working in the States before returning to Jordan in 2006. His experience of living in different cultures has given him a passion for helping people to understand and love one another. Sameer now leads the Center for Relational Leadership in Amman, Jordan, and founded the East-West Initiatives program in 2007 because he believes that there is an urgent need for programs which build bridges between East and West.

Mr Dan Green - Program Coordinator

Dan Green grew up in India before studying at the University of Nottingham in the UK. His upbringing overseas gave him a love for other cultures, and in 2004 he moved with his wife to live in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2005 they moved to Amman, where Dan studied Arabic at the University of Jordan. He is passionate about helping facilitate programs which bring people together, removing stereotypes, and bringing about new relationships between people from different religions and cultures.

Our Values:

  • We believe that all men were made equal by God and have the same rights to peace and justice.
  • We seek to first find common ground and affirm positive aspects of all cultures.
  • We don't deny that differences exist between us, but believe that peace will come by recognising those differences, understanding them, and choosing to love one another in-spite of them.
